Barry R. Powers

Barry is a Shareholder in the Firm, and the focus of his practice is commercial litigation, business law, unfair competition and shareholder disputes, employment law and family law. Barry is a graduate of the University of Michigan and Wayne State University Law School, where he received his J.D., cum laude, in 1987.

A recipient of the Distinguished Service Award from the Detroit Metropolitan Bar Association in 1997 and of the American Jurisprudence Award in Constitutional Law, Barry is the author of Michigan Civil Procedure (Chapter 6, Responsive Pleadings) (ICLE, 1999) and of several articles published in the Wayne Law Review, the Michigan Bar Journal, and the Michigan Business Law Journal. Barry has lectured for the ICLE, the State Bar of Michigan Business Law Section and the Thomas M. Cooley Law School on topics including shareholder disputes, civil procedure, and unfair competition. In addition, Barry is a Fellow of the Oakland County Bar Foundation and a past member of the State Bar of Michigan Judicial and Professional Ethics Committee.
