Terry has practiced law since 1996, with an emphasis in bankruptcy, debtor/creditor, real estate, and commercial law. He has extensive bankruptcy law and litigation experience, representing such clients as Chapter 7 bankruptcy trustees, debtors, creditors, and commercial landlords and real estate development companies in large, complex Chapter 11 cases throughout the nation, including such cases as K-Mart Corporation, KB Toys, Winn-Dixie, Circuit City, Linens N' Things, Steve & Barry's, Bally's Fitness, and many others. He represented creditors in both the Chrysler and General Motors bankruptcy cases in 2009, and was successful in obtaining full payment of his clients' claims. He is also experienced in conducting federal appeals in the United States Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals.
Terry is certified as a Consumer Bankruptcy Specialist by the American Board of Certification since 2003, and is active in such organizations as the American Bankruptcy Institute, the Consumer Bankruptcy Association, Federal Bar Association, and National Association of Bankruptcy Trustees.
Terry is a 1996 graduate of Michigan State University College of Law (formerly the Detroit College of Law), where he was elected as Senior Class Treasurer, and helped establish a scholarship fund for students in financial need at the law school. He also earned a B.A. from Michigan State University in 1992 with a major in Political Science-Pre Law.
